My Review about Yamaha Fazer.

Review about the Yamaha Fazer, Which I was using it for past one year. My review was already available in the Mouthshut.com.

MyReview . And users rated as "Very usefull" :-)

Hi everyone, first of all I am very glad to be the owner for the Yamaha Fazer. I bought this bike on July 15th, 2010. I am really pleased with the performance from this Fazer!! Though there is some of dislikes I ve with this bike. My review might be clear for those who are in confusion and answers to many questions that was discussed in many of the reviews.

In the past 2 months, I ride almost 3100KMs. really my engine getting tuned with the riding. Guess none of the other bikes have a great look as this one. You ll gain confidence once you start riding. It never loosen the grip as for as my driving skill. Great disc break at front. I am assure, you ll never feel the speed until you look at the speedometer. I felt like I am riding at 40KM-PH, but I was shocked to see my speedometer, it’s crossing the 76KM-PH. That much comfort you ll gain. And I seen somewhere in reviews page about its traffic cruising. It is definitely a traffic cruiser. I am daily riding in Chennai mount road about 13KMs daily. But extra care should be taken while cruise the traffic, not much only a bit is needed. Next I answer for the Head Lights issues. Actually only one light ll be on at a time. But I changed to glow the both at high beams and one at low beam. There is no problem in headlights or battery. I never struck due to starting problems. And I never felt of the missing the kicker in the Fazer.

Engine sound, very sweet sound. My fazer never gone above the 110KM-PH. Upto 100KM-PH never shows the sound difference in the engine. After 100KM-PH there is mild vibration to reach its maximum speed and it takes time to reach. (I ve one weird problem, My was so smooth upto 57KM-PH , After 57 its starting the vibration and again getting back to smooth at 66KM-PH ). Then I need to speak about the suspensions. I don't know how it is working. Rider will never get the vibrations, great suspension.

Here comes the mileage part. At dense traffic, I am getting the mileage of 45KM-PL. I really don't know :) May be by the way my engine tuned and the way I use to drive. I don't do rash driving, but at times I used to do so. I ask one of the road guy, who is in Fazer. He is getting the mileage of 22KM-PL. At Chennai I am getting the 45KM-PL. When I ride to my native through the highway, I am getting the 53KM-PL. I guess it’s good in 150cc category. Mileage is purely depends on your driving skills.

To do: As soon as you get the Fazer, Remove the front number plates and write the number in the visor. Don’t spread the front mirrors I ve seen many of the guys splitting the front mirrors wide apart. My front mirrors are groomed inside the handle bars. So that it is easy to handle in the traffics.

Pickups, truly it’s far better than, Unicorn, other Hero Honda engines and Pulsar. The final pickup will be great will definitely beat the others. It’s almost equal to the car. You have sit and ride the other bikes, but fazer takes you to your destination. You feel so while you drive this one and great gripping.

I personally Dislikes something in my Fazer,

1.) There is no front bumper, once my bike falls down while it was standing in side stand. Its directly get damaging the sides of doom and the silencer. Both get scratches.

2.) Handle bar: I expected the butterfly handle bars like in pulsars. But I ve got the straight ones.

3.) Pillion discomfort: At long rides pillion rider will be in deep trouble. There is no enough space for pillion riders.

4.) Rear and front mudguard: This bike looks like the macho due to the design of the bike. But when there is rain, the pillion rider ll suffers a lot, tires ll post dirt’s at the back side of the pillion rider and legs.

5.) Front lights: When I ve a pillion rider, The front doom looking up slightly, As a result, no lights ll be on the roads. Also both the beams are spreading away from the center of the roads, should be adjusted to focus the center of the road.

6.) There is no proper ground clearance, centre stand is hitting at even small speed-brakes. If there is pillion, then the situation is still worse.

7.) I felt this bike is so costly, Yamaha should address on this issues, I dont know why its so much of cost, If they reduce 10k, Better the sales ll be.

Last thing guys, definitely ll let you down about 7 - 10% in the means of pillion discomfort, speed breakers and while at parking’s! I never take my fazer to some of cinema theaters; it would get damages by other bikes standing next to Fazer. I have blue one.

Thank you guys........

Update on 28/12/2010.

At some times, I am getting mileage of almost 50 KMPH in the chennai traffic. Couldnt belive it. Me weights 72 Kg and I tested in chennai traffic (above the normal traffic). I ride it with the passion never gone beyond 80 in the test ride, also no pillion rider. Just an aimless ride gives me such a mileage. I am consistently getting the same. But when I have pillion, it falls I guess. Also check your Tyre pressure periodically, it definitely affect the mileage's I had experienced in that, I got only 24 kmpl with tire pressure is below 24 (With pillion rider)

Also I am getting minor problems as of every bike. Started getting vibrations from the engines I checked it in the service, it’s because of engine bolts gets loosened.

Updated on 2nd August, 2011.

Guys, Here are some of the problems that might affect the fazer, FZ mileage. Always have Tyre pressure maintained 35 PSI at rear and 25 PSI at front. Opt for nitrogen, now it’s available in city Petrol banks. Nitrogen won’t get out as normal Air. Perhaps, 78% of normal air consists of nitrogen. It was something different. I am using nitrogen for past one month. Tyre pressure reminds the same. Also, adjust your bike Ideal speed to exactly 1000 RPM.

I did test my Fazer with the way I used to handle it and I ask my friends to drive my Fazer. There was huge difference in mileage, More than 10 kms of drop in mileage. I used to raise the throttle very gradually. No need of sudden raise in the throttle. But my friend used to raise it sudden and he holds the throttle while he is moving it slowly (Releasing the clutch and holds it often without releasing the throttle) in the Chennai traffic. If you absorb this action, you ll feel the extra amount of heat from the engine and some sort of smell from it. It directly affects the fuel consumption. It takes more fuel than normal. But by your driving skill you can avoid those habits. But that doesn't mean like making you to drive the race car in the first gear J

Raise it very gradual and attain the speed. I normally drive 55 KMPH in City traffic. And if the road is free, I used to pass it by 80 KMPH. It never drops my mileage beyond 46 KMPL. But once I drove continuously above 95 KMPH in highways, I left many of cars behind me :-) There I got severe drop. I didn't measure it exactly. But on return I drove in 70 KMPH calmly, I got my mileage back. And this review was posted by one of most adrenalin guy, then think of the way I used to handle my bike.

  3. Arnav, Fazer was intermediate. It doesn't posses power like Apache RTR and not a slow pickup like honda engines. It will be intermediate one. If mileage is not yours concern, can tune the engine to possess great power and pickup. Then mileage ll be around 25 KMPL :)
